Obituary of Donald Brian Desjarlais

Donald Brian Desjarlais (a.k.a Bookie)

"Lone Star"

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Bookie, a loving father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many on July 08, 2023 at the age of 72. He was born on September 22, 1950 in Balcarres, SK and raised in Lebret, SK with his family where he shared many fond memories. He was an avid Montreal Canadiens and Pittsburg Steelers fan. Bookie was witty with a wry sense of humour and he got his nickname from his love of reading, which he never failed to learn something new from. Bookie retired from ISM after many years of service and dedication. One of his most treasured pastimes was meeting up with his buddies at the local watering hole, The Fat Badger to enjoy his time of fellowship and laughs. He lived his life on his own terms, but still held a strong love for his family more than words could speak. Don is survived by his daughters Tracy and Lee-Ann, and the mother of his children Denise. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Legacy, LaKota, Daylin, Dustin, Lexxie, Dallas, Bryanna, Jayden, Brayden and great grandchildren Axton and Aria. Don’s siblings mourning his loss are Wayne and Marilyn Fort Qu’Appelle, SK; Bev Dobranski (Dennis), Gord (Della) Regina, SK, Andrew (Shannon) Sherwood Park, AB, Vinnie (Gail) Blackfalds, AB and Donna Lucas (Wayne) Muenster, SK. He will be forever remembered by many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Don was predeceased by his parents August and Rose Marie Desjarlais and brothers Dave and Dennis. A wake will be held for Don at the Speers Family Centre, 2333 Cornwall Street, Regina, SK on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Service will take place at the Speers Family Centre on Friday, July 14, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. followed by his Interment at Lebret Cemetery, Lebret, SK.
