Such a kind and thoughtful gentlemen. We so enjoyed getting to spend a little time with him fishing at Katche Kamp. He had a big heart, a big smile, and a kind word for everyone. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Kelly and family, as you walk through this time of grief at the loss of his earthly presence and this time of celebration of a life well-lived and a glorious homecoming in heaven. Love and Blessings - Jeanne and Bill Blackmon

My condolences to the entire Massier family. Allan graduated in Civil Engineering in 1959 and was the project Engineer on the Highway Construction project between Assiniboia and Mossbank Sask in 1959. He got me a job as a junior surveyor on that project. ,which allowed me to attend the U of S as well that fall. We attended his wedding to Betty in Hawarden on Nov 28,1959.
Allan was always known as a sensible knowledgable Highway Engineer and a fine human being. I never heard one negative thing about Allan in the four years I spent with the DOH. In my fourth year of College I wrote my thesis on The Use Of Computers In Highway Engineering. Allan provided me with all the information that the DOH had on using computers up to that point.

Our heartfelt condolences are extended to Aunt Betty, Kelly, Todd and families. Kathy and I want to share two wonderful memories of Uncle Al that stand out amongst all others.
The first was when we visited Saskatchewan as a recently wed couple. After a visit with Granny in Hawarden we set out to visit Aunt Betty, Uncle Al, Kelly and Todd. Granny sent us off with a huge amazing breakfast. Reaching Regina several hours later we were greeted with a full turkey lunch with all the trimmings. For dinner that night, Uncle Al took us to a steakhouse. Were we well-fed that day? You bet! I’m sure that Kathy wondered if all prairie folk ate like that. That same visit Uncle Al and Aunt Betty showed us how cheaply we could buy a new house in Regina. Uncle Al knew we were Lions’ fans. Was he recruiting? It sure felt like it. We also took in a RCMP ceremony and a mock trial of Louis Riel. Uncle Al was picked to be on the jury, which made it more special for all of us. Kathy remembers a visit to the mall on that same trip when a teenage Kelly said “Watch this.” Kelly proceeded to “work” her Dad, successfully I might add, to purchase something she had her eyes on. My Uncle Al, a generous man to be sure!
The second memory was made in Vancouver. While Uncle Al and Aunt Betty were staying in their motorhome at my Mom and Dad’s house I purchased tickets to a Lions Roughriders game in BC Place. I think about eight of us attended that game, including the two Roughriders fans from Regina. Well, my aunt and uncle were not the quiet, conservative, well-mannered fans I expected. They took their fan spirit to places we never imagined including Uncle Al, in the midst of Lions’ fans, standing and shouting at the top of his lungs “Shank it, Paul. Shank it Paul.” every time Paul McCallum lined up to attempt a field goal. What a character!
Kathy and I will always remember Uncle Al as a kind gentleman who had so much love for his family. We wish wonderful memories to all those who knew him.

My thoughts and prayers to Betty and family on the loss of a loved one. Looking back, it was my privilege of having Al as a classmate at Southey High for several years. I remember the mischievous twinkle in his fun loving eyes. Yes he did have the key to the school chemistry lab. I brought the grain and he brought the other ingredients that we hid in the dark furnace room and at the appropriate time took the now sprouted mash to the lab during the noon-hour to distill into what was known as "white lightning". The lab also provided the opportunity to snitch a few flakes of Sulphur and liquid acid and when mixed became H2S or rotten egg gas that from time to time mysteriously caused no end of grief to the Southey café and poolroom owners and on at least occasion the evacuation of the entire school population. Angels in heaven beware, you now have a trickster in your midst. Rest in Peace Allan.

He was passionate about his community , his church , the province of Saskatchewan , the Roughriders , and most of all , his family . I know hearts are heavy for losing someone so special but hopefully we can also celebrate his wonderful life as we mourn his passing . He will be missed but never forgotten . To the Massier and extended families,
Al was a really great guy, whom I met when I spent some weekends in Regina visiting Kelly’s family in Regina, back in 1986. Kelly and I connected at the University in the language lab while I was taking a Spanish class. Kelly and I took more senior French classes until we both received undergrad degrees. Through the past 30+ years, I’ve eaten hundreds of meals at Kelly’s home in Saskatoon, have watched the kids grow up from babies ( and I’m Kendra’s God mother)and watch hundreds of Rider games too at Kelly’s home. Al and Betty were there many times, or after the game Kelly would phone Al immediately to discuss plays !!! Al was a witty guy, with a great sense of humor, and a quiet manner, always present to listen to others, including his grandkids, and all friends, showing humility and genuine caring. Al Massier will be truly missed. Sincerest condolences to his immediate family, to Betty , to Kelly and Todd, and their families. Al Massier was a beautiful human being! Sincerely, Margaret Symon-Lungal and family

Thinking of you all and holding you in my thoughts and prayers. I spent a lot of time at the Massier home as we lived "just across the school yard". I still don't know why but Mr. Massier loved to call me Peter. It was kind of a joke between us. He was a wonderful man. Always a twinkle in his eye and a smile on his face.
