Obituary of Janet Cameron
Janet passed away peacefully on Monday, August 14, 2023, at the age of 62 years. Janet was born in Filmore, Saskatchewan and grew up on a farm near Froude. She attended school in Griffin, St. Michaels in Weyburn, and the Weyburn Comprehensive. Janet attended the University of Regina obtaining her BEd, and began teaching in the Prairie Valley School Division including schools at Mortlach and Pilot Butte. She took on an even more challenging career as a mother when her first child was born and she continued to care for all her children. Janet had a passion for camping and hiking and some highlights for her were the summer she spent hiking and canoeing in the Yukon with her sister Mary-Ann. She also had fond memories of a summer touring Europe with Mary-Ann. Janet also enjoyed the annual family camping trip to Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park with her sister Anita and family. She treasured time with her family and was most happy when they were gathered together. Janet felt very blessed to be able to attend the van Stavern Family reunion in July of this year and had a great afternoon connecting with the extended family. She also enjoyed singing in a variety of church choirs, starting as a teenager with her sisters in Griffin and continuing to sing at Holy Trinity. Janet also sang with Vivace, a community choir, for approximately 20 years and took great joy in making music with an incredible group of singers.
