Obituary of Penelope Marion Parsons

PENELOPE “PENNY” MARION PARSONS Penny, late of Regina, SK, born July 18, 1947 in Rochford Essex, UK, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 6, 2014. She was the eldest daughter of Terry and Pauline Eno and sister to Stuart and Peta Jane. Penny grew up and was educated in Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex, England. She was also schooled in Honolulu Hawaii which changed her life going to school with a flower in her hair and not wearing a school uniform. Penny married Graham in 1967 in St. Peter’s Church in Westcliff, honeymooned on a small boat and immigrated to Canada the following week to make a life together. Their life had them living in Toronto, Winnipeg, Saskatoon and Regina. Penny was mother to three wonderful children, Ben married Lisa, Sophie married Marc (Hildebrand) and Abigail married Mike (Stewart). She was a loving grandmother to four grandchildren (Nathan, Lauren (Ben and Lisa), William and Amelia (Mike and Abby). Penny was a smiling spirit that overcame odds and brought her family and friends together. She was one with her garden and her flowers were an expression of her love. In Regina her gardens were a beautiful therapy against her numerous successful fights with cancer. Penny traveled the world with friends and family. Her special place of healing was Maui where air, sun and sea often combined to bring her back to health. Throughout her life in Saskatchewan, Penny was active in making the province a better place. Penny was a strong, beautiful woman who will be missed but whose life will long be celebrated by her family and friends. Survived by Graham Parsons (husband for 47 years and lover for 50 years), her children and grandchildren, sister and brother. The Funeral Service will be held at Wesley United Church, 3913 Hillsdale Street, Regina, SK on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Cindy Bourgeois. Private family interment followed by tea for friends and family. In spite of Penny’s love of flowers, they are most gratefully declined. Friends so wishing may make donations, in memory of Penny, to the Canadian Cancer Society, 204 – 3775 Pasqua Street, Regina, SK, S4S 6W8.
