Obituary of Franciska "Francis" Geiszt

Francis, late of Regina, SK passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the age of 91 years. Predeceased by her husband Joseph Geiszt; parents Joseph and Anna Fabian; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary (Steve) Vermes, Emma (Edmund) Niemczuk; brother and sister-in-law John (Edith) Fabian; and nephew Edmund Niemczuk. Francis is survived by her son Imre Geiszt of Toronto, ON; stepson Joseph (Anna) Geiszt of Kornye, Hungary; grandsons, Joseph and Zoltan Geiszt in Hungary; sister-in-law Alvina Forsberg; as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Born in Kornye, Hungary in 1924, Francis and her husband immigrated to Saskatchewan to join her brother in 1950 after being dispossessed and displaced in WWII. Francis worked for many years at the Regina General Hospital. Following her retirement she resided at the Trianon Tower and Queen Victoria Estates before coming into the care of Santa Maria Senior Citizens Care Home. A woman of boundless energy and good humour, Francis asked for little and gave much. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of Santa Maria for their kindness and excellent care provided to Francis in her final struggle with Alzheimers. Funeral Mass will take place at Little Flower R. C. Church, 420 College Avenue, Regina on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park.
