Rita,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this very sad time.
I worked with Vern at Sa skTel back in the late 80s when he was marketing fax machines. He was a wonderful man and co-worker who always had a laugh or two when things didn't go as planned. I will always remember him fondly.

Vern was a mentor to me early in my career (17 years ago). He was tough, but only because he wanted you to value doing things the right way. Through his gruff exterior, it was plain to see how kind and generous he was at his core. He became a friend over those co-op terms and I miss him and his laugh. He was a really good person.

A poem that I like that helps to fill ones time of need.
Those we love don't go away,
They walk beside us every day,
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear.
Safe in the arms of Jesus.
May HIS love help fill your hurt at this time of Sorrow.

Dear Rita and family, My deepest sympathy to you and your family. I remember some fine barbeques and get togethers at your home. Vern was a great barbeque chef . The compassion and fun he had with your animals over the years was wonderful to see. We would go home laughing at all the animal antics that Vern encouraged in your pets. I will always remember him as a kind, outgoing man and good friend to Odell. Our hearts go out to you and your family.
Sincerely Gina, Odette and Chris

To the Phoenix family,
Our sincere sympathy in the loss of your husband , father, grandfather. We remember him fondly from the Cooper Cres neighbourhood. He was always willing to help with any projects and we remember him as a very intelligent man helping solve computer problems in the early days of computers. May he rest in peace.
