Life in the military provides many memories but one of our best would be Uplands, Chinooks and Hal and Alma's personalities that highlighted our time with 450 Sqn. Alma was warm and friendly to everyone and we treasure our memories of her. She was truly a fine example of a "Colonel's Lady".

Hal and Family: Daisy and I are deeply sorry to learn of Alma's passing. I remember her as an important part of the camaraderie and fun we all experienced on 408 Squadron in those early days in Edmonton. Our more recent annual meetings at the Commissionaires AMODs renewed those memories for me and introduced Daisy to a wonderful person. We both looked forward to those meetings every year.

The Swain Family,
I met Alma when I was a very young officer in Edmonton. I remember her as a gracious lady who filled the room with laughter and joy. She had a knack for making you feel important and welcome to the Squadron. I shall not forget her kindness.

I will miss this dear sweet woman terribly. Her passing has not only left a hole in my heart but in the hearts of her family and all that knew her. I loved her and Hal's visits to San Angelo every winter and was truly blessed in so many ways with the time I was given to spend with Alma. She was always a nurse at heart and when Kim and I returned to the house each day from our respective clinics and hospitals, Alma always "debriefed" us on our work day. She listened to every word and was always ready to lend her sage advise, words of comfort and often a hug that I so sorely needed after a tough day. Alma and Hal called me frequently when I was hospitalized in Houston and just hearing her voice from so far away was of great comfort and support that I so badly needed during that time. I have always been proud to have called you my mother-in-law and my life was so much more blessed with you in it. I know that your last cruise will be one of fair winds, full sails and eternal sunshine.
