Mary and family,
Just want to provide my heartfelt condolences on the sudden and inexplicable loss of Duncan.
We have been neighbours for only a few years. But you and Duncan have already become highlights of our home life. Too short a time ago, we had a lovely glass of wine in celebration of the coming Christmas and talked of our plans for the New Year. I felt, in no small way because of yours and Duncan's warmth and welcome, part of a lovely community. You and he are always ready with a smile and a warm greeting.
I wish you only love and support as you face this new journey without Duncan at your side. I know you have strong family and community around you. But you also have neighbours who love you (and would do anything you need to get through this time). Take care of yourself and your family. Much love.

I was just reflecting that 11 years ago today (St John the Baptist), Bishop Duncan ordained me a deacon. Then I heard the news of his death. My deepest condolences to Mary, to the Diocese, and to all for whom Duncan was such a special man. I honour his memory, and also the faithfulness with which he lived out his ministry. He was part of the wealth of my life, and I thank God for him. Rest eternal grant to him, O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon him.
