Obituary of Duncan Douglas Wallace

DUNCAN DOUGLAS WALLACE March 1, 1938 – June 22, 2015 Duncan thought you should leave the party while still having fun. He took this to heart and died at the age of 77 surrounded by family, friends, clergy, cathedral choir and compassionate palliative care staff. Duncan served the Church for 50 years. He fulfilled the orders of Deacon, Priest and Bishop. Duncan brought a skilled gift of leadership to his life and work. He led by example empowering others. This was his vocation. He advocated for the poor and the vulnerable. He supported the rights of First Nations. He defended people who differed in their beliefs and sexual orientation. Justice was his determination. Duncan’s love of downhill skiing, sailing, cooking, carpentry, reading, jazz, Happy Hour, Jeopardy and the changing of flags were his passions. At the heart of it all is time spent with family and at West Hawk Lake where he courted the love of his life Mary Emily (Warriner). Service of Thanksgiving for his Life and Ministry will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 11:00 am at St. Paul’s Cathedral, 12th Avenue and McIntyre Street.
