Obituary of Mary Veronica Metz

Mary Veronica “Vonnie” Metz died peacefully on Friday October 16, 2015, at the Regina General Hospital. She will be greatly missed by her loving husband Maurice; her sons Greg (Wanda) of Wilcox and their children Krista and Nicolas, Rob (Linda) of Burnaby and their children Mary and Katherine, Tom (Jodi) of Regina and their children Cassie, Brenna and Anica, and John (Terri) of Moose Jaw and their children Brittney (Jesse and children Tyli and Zarah), Veronica, Maurissa, Skylar, and Saxton. There to meet her at the gates of Paradise are Vonnie’s parents Leo and Catherine “Cassie” Ryan; her brothers Greg, Lorne and Philip “Phee”, and her grandsons Gary, Joseph and Paul. Mom enjoyed life and was proud of her many accomplishments. Mom grew up on Angus Crescent in Regina attending Holy Rosary School and Sacred Heart Academy. Mom found her passion in nursing, and later in teaching nursing. Vonnie made many lifelong friendships at the Grey Nuns Hospital. Mom and Dad married in 1959, leaving behind the city life she became part of the Wilcox community and the Parish of Saint Augustine’s for the next fifty years. Maurice and Vonnie moved to the Bentley in Regina and have resided there for the past five years, finding many new and old friends. We would like to especially thank Dr. Vermeulen and the excellent nursing staff of 5E at the General Hospital who made mom’s last days comfortable and acted as a support to us. Prayers for Vonnie will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK, on Thursday October 22, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of the Resurrection will be Celebrated at St. Augustine’s, Wilcox, SK, on Friday October 23, 2015 at 1:00 pm. “Act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with your God” Micah 6.
