Dear Shirley,
I haven't seen Ira for years, but he made a big impression on me as a child and teen growing up at Wesley United. He was a great role model. May God bless and be with you at this time and in the coming days. Susan & family

Dear Shirley & all of the families,
Sincere Sympathy. Ira will be greatly missed. He was such a fine fellow. We first met him in about 1954, when Brian and our son, Dan, were baptized at Westminster United Church. Over the years our paths kept crossing - I remember especially the years spent in the Choir at Wesley United Church. And the Tour Trips in recent years - Singapore in 1999, Spain in 2002; and The Orient in 2004. And visiting you in southern California. Wonderful memories.
I am sorry that I am unable to attend the Service at First Presbyterian Church. My thoughts and prayers will be with you at that time.
Love, Beulah

Deepest sympathy to Shirley and family. Ira was truly a great man. We were privileged to know him as a Rotarian, to know Ira and Shirley as friends. Allen and Jack were law school classmates. Dave was our children's school principal, so there were many connections.

From the University of Saskatchewan Wheat Pool Leader gallery:
Ira Mumford began work for the Pool as the head office messenger boy in 1938. He served in the air force during war time and progressed up the Pool ranks through the publicity department and secretary’s staff. He spent two years in the position of secretary before being appointed the Pool’s first general manager in 1967. This position evolved into chief executive officer, a post which Mr. Mumford held until 1981.
