Obituary of Gregory Taylor Duchak

May 9, 1958 – March 27, 2016 Greg passed away peacefully on March 27, 2016 at Extendicare in Moose Jaw, SK at the age of 57. Greg was born on May 9, 1958 and lived in Regina until the age of 13 years. He resided in Valley View Center, and was then relocated to a community group home in Moose Jaw. From there he moved into the loving home of Gerry and Dawn Hicks and their family, in 1987. He resided with his “second family” until his declining health required him to be placed in Extendicare Moose Jaw, November of 2014. He was a very special, loving person, who loved to be active and interact with anyone, especially those with a good watch story. His smiling face and unconditional love was felt many, and he will always remain in our hearts. Greg was predeceased by his father, George and lifetime friend Boyd Stewart. He is survived by his mother Patricia Duchak, of Regina; sisters Cathy and Shelley (Garry) Wahl of Regina; special cousins, Dennis and Ginette Kosh of Victoria, BC and Alfred Prokopetz of Kelowna, BC. He is also survived by his “second family” Gerry and Dawn Hicks of Moose Jaw, SK, their children Kali (Chris) and their family Shay and Adam Basset of Edmonton, AB and Keegan (Christine) of Waterloo, ON; Gerry’s mother, Delores Hicks of Moose Jaw, SK as well as the Hicks' numerous friends and family who made Greg a part of their lives. The family would like to thank the staff of Diversified Services in Moose Jaw, for the years of caring and involvement in making Greg’s life an enjoyable journey. A special thanks to all the staff of Extendicare, Moose Jaw for their support and loving care given to Greg during his time there. You are all, a very special group of individuals. Thank you! A private family graveside service will be held. The family gratefully declines flowers.
