To Marjorie Gunn's family,
I taught at Miller Comprehensive with Marjorie in the late 1970s. She was a special person to me - because of a connection she had with my mother Margaret (Spelliscy) Lee. I appreciated her professional dedication and the spark of vitality she added to every class. I admired her patience and her ability to reach each student on a personal level in order to bring out the best in every individual. She was a powerhouse and a beautiful example to staff and students of "living each day in God's grace".
May all members of Marjorie's family be comforted by your memories of your Matriarch. She was a grand lady and a great teacher, who enriched the world by her 99 years among us.

To all who knew and loved Mrs. Gunn:
It has been so many years since I've seen or spoken to Mrs. Gunn, yet I have thought about her many, many times over all these years. From a very early age it had been placed in my heart to write. Through all the years in elementary school and later in my years at Miller High School I wrote stories and poems and keep journals. In all those years, no one gave me as much encouragement as I received from Mrs. Gunn. It is amazing how far a kind word and encouragement can take another person, how it can edify someone, and for this I will always be so grateful for having known - for even a short time - Mrs. Gunn. What a blessing she has been to me over all these years. I will never forget how my life was changed and enriched because of her love, her kindness, and her guidance.
Loss of a loved one is always always difficult and she will be sorely missed, but take joy in knowing that the Lord filled her with days, that she had 99 prosperous years. After reading her obituary I know that she was blessed to be a blessing to others, not just me.
I leave you with my heartfelt condolences and this quote:
14 “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. 2 There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? 3 When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. 4 And you know the way to where I am going.”
~Jesus in John 14:1-4 NLT

I had the great good fortune to be taught English by Mrs Gunn at Miller High School in the 1970s. She was an exacting and precise teacher, demanding the best from her students. At times she could be formidable, but she cared deeply for those she taught. I will remember her with respect and affection.

Dear Ellen and family,
My most sincere condolences on the passing of your Mother. I remember her well as my teacher and a very proud Mother of Ellen. Oh, how many piano recitals we shared, Ellen, with our Moms proudly looking on. How many Conservatory of Toronto music exams - both piano and composition - were our Moms nervously awaiting our results. I remember your Mom so very well - very precise - very organized - asking us to always do our best.
I am sending hugs and prayers to you and your family. May your memories give you great comfort.
Michelle (Arsenault)
PS I won't be able to attend the funeral as I am living in Abbotsford now.
