Marjorie will be missed by her nieces and nephews and their families: Paulette Schulhauser; Coleen (Garry) Schwartz; Garnet (Cathy) Schulhauser; Marlene (George) Smadu; Marj (Bill) Hendren; Rose Mary Hartney; John (JoAnne)Hartney; Kathleen (Delbert) McDonald; Tom Hartney; Marie (Lui) Antonini; Robert (Heather) Gunn; and Colleen (Allan) Pinvidic, along with many special cousins. Marjorie happily took on the role of matriarch to this large and close extended family for a number of years. Marjorie grew up in Drinkwater, Saskatchewan and attended school at Okabena, Notre Dame College and the University of Saskatchewan. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1936. Marjorie’s teaching career began in rural Saskatchewan and included Notre Dame, Lampman, Southey and Ceylon. In 1946 she married Hugh and they farmed at Cupar for over 60 years. In 1956 Marjorie and Hugh established a home in Regina and Marjorie taught at Sacred Heart, St. James, Sacred Heart Academy and Miller High School. Marjorie retired in 1980. Marjorie had many talents. She was an accomplished teacher, farmer and gardener. She was the family historian, but where she particularly excelled was in the love and care she exhibited for her family. Marjorie provided constant and exceptional care to family members when they most needed it. Marjorie enjoyed good health for most of her long and productive life and she enjoyed her extended family immensely. She was the center of many family gatherings each year and she particularly enjoyed her annual birthday celebrations, which in her 90th and 95th years included a family dance where she was the ‘belle of the ball’ and everyone’s favorite dance partner. The last few years have brought exceptional joy to Marjorie with the arrival of her great granddaughters. They always brought a smile to her face and a twinkle to her eye. “Grandma Gunn” and the girls had a special bond. She will be sorely missed. The family would like to express its appreciation for the wonderful care Marjorie received during her short illness from Dr. Stewart McMillan and at the Regina General Hospital. The medical staff in the Emergency Department and on Unit 5E were at all times professional and compassionate both to Marjorie and to her family. Prayers will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church 1701 Cowan Crescent, Regina on Saturday, April 23 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marjorie’s name to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Regina General Hospital, 1440 14th Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 0W5.
