Hello
We just got back the Christmas Card sent to Gerry, so I looked to see if something had changed and indeed it has. Gerry and Chess were such good neighbors to us when we lived on Smith Street and then moved to College court, and continued contact once we moved to Toronto. They were great Friends and neighbors to us, gracious and charming and supportive. Chess of course we have missed for some time, but with great sadness to learn of Gerry's passing as well. He will be missed by us in Toronto, and we think of them both so often. When Scots Mom came to visit, they welcomed her as well and spent lots of time with Elsie. My Parents Barb and Ken Jestin also had a connection to Chess and Gerry. Just great people.

I had the pleasure of knowing Gerry while working at the Leader Post during the 1980's.
We used to visit often in the cafeteria during lunches or coffee; plus through the years we even shared a few rounds of golf. A couple of years ago we had the opportunity to have a brief visit and even though it had been a number of years since we had seen each other, it was like old times. I am saddened to hear of Gerry's passing.
Please accept my deepest sympathies

Gerry, We crossed Paths many times over the decades. Thank you for showing me leadership when I was a Leader Post carrier and for guidance and support of my Gold watch for 18 months of perfect service (the watch still functions perfectly!). For always having a friendly word when I would see you at the LP on Park Street. You mentored many of us with your guidance and Friendship. Blessings with the next steps in your journey

Dear Dempsey family,
It was sad to read in the paper this morning that Gerry had died. I only knew Gerry & Chess as fellow condo owners when I lived at Thornton Place from 1999 to 2005. They were the nicest people, wonderful neighbours, and could always make us laugh or smile with just a word or two. May it help to know the thoughts and prayers of many are with you at this time in sympathy and remembrance.
Sincerely, Patricia (Salamon) Sinclair
