Obituary of Jayne Rhead

Elizabeth Jayne, known to all as Jayne, passed away peacefully with family by her side on October 12, 2016 at the age of 66 years. Predeceased by her parents James Gass and Margaret Spicer, Jayne will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her husband Walter; children Jill (Lee), Peter (Katie), Laura, Alexandra (Gordon) and Carolyn (Matthew); grandchildren Lucas, Asher, Ari, Duke and Rowan; her brothers David (Pam) Gass and Donald (Bonnie) Gass as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. Jayne was born in Regina and attended Lakeview Elementary and Sheldon Williams Collegiate. She continued her education at Minot State, the University of Washington (Pullman) and the University of Regina where she earned degrees in Speech and Language Pathology and Education. Jayne worked for 40 years at the Regina Public School Board in a variety of roles and then private practice until her retirement in 2015. Jayne loved her home, gardening, vacations, knitting, grandchildren, Sunday dinners, visits on the deck, swims in Lac La Ronge, the Saskatchewan Roughriders, outings with girlfriends and her beloved cats, of course. A Memorial Service in celebration of a life well-lived will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, on Tuesday October 18, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation in memory of Jayne may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
