Such a loss. Parted ways a few years ago as friends do sometimes but his was more than just a friendship we were trouble from the word go. It was always ray and marv and steve and wally. Minot warriors and two out of three good ball players. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and all who knew him. He made all of us better people.

I actually just heard this past weekend of Marvin's short battle and was in shock.and sadden by his passing. I played many years of ball with him and had many great times and wins. Would run into him and Dawn somewhere during ball season...always good to see old friends. My condolences go out to Dawn and family and all brothers, sisters, brother in laws and sister in laws that I've either played ball with or against. Rest in peace Marvin.

I grew up in Regina and one of my younger brothers and I were fortunate to have Marvin as one of our baseball coaches for our Expos team. I still remember those games and practices throughout those springs and summers as being so much fun to go to. Marvin was not much older than we were at the time and I always remembered that. He was already giving back to a sport that he loved. I remember how fast he could run and how hard and far he could throw. He was an excellent athlete, probably the best one I can remember as a child. He had a nice sports car back then, too .... a fiery orange or red Roadrunner, I think, and all of the players on our team thought that was so cool ! I remember my Mom and Dad saying often when Marvin was our coach what a nice "kid" he was and how lucky we were to have him as a coach. Marvin and Dawn were dating at the time then got married. I think Marvin coached us for one more year after that. Although I did not see him for many years, every time I think back to those fun times playing baseball as a kid, I would always look back and remember the the people that made those times so special and memorable. Marvin was certainly one of those great people. To the Gelowitz and Oyka families, I extend my deepest sympathy. May you find strength in family and friends and comfort in warm memories. Kern Tourney
