Barry McFadden

Obituary of Barry John McFadden

BARRY JOHN MCFADDEN JULY 6, 1940 – MARCH 22, 2017 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Barry McFadden at the Regina General Hospital. In recent years, Barry had suffered from Alzheimer’s that would often affect his short term memory. However, through this, he never lost his quick wit and use of puns. Barry was predeceased by his parents Cecil and Annie (Wenman) McFadden; his sisters, Myra, Lorraine, and Georgina; and brothers, Lloyd and Don. Barry is survived by his wife of 49 years, Elaine; his sons, Darin (Jill) and Tim (Nina); his grandsons, Max, Carter, Nicholas, and Hayden; brother Jim (Eleanor); sister-in-law Eilleen; Elaine’s siblings, Alvina, Jean, Ed, and Allan (Bev); many nieces and nephews and close friends. Barry was born and raised in Broadview, Saskatchewan where he grew up playing football, fastball, hockey, and of course the drums. He then served in the Royal Canadian Navy before settling in Regina where he worked with General Recorders and Supreme Office Products. In his retired years, Barry also worked with the Corps of Commissionaires at Government House. He enjoyed golfing, but always cherished his time watching his sons and grandsons participate in their sports and activities. The family wishes to extend a thank you to all the staff at the Adult Day Support program at the William Booth Special Care Home and the staff in the Coronary Care Unit at the Regina General Hospital. Funeral Service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 1037 Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor David Haberstock officiating. Interment at the Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery following the reception. Donations in Barry’s name, may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan Inc., 301-2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 3X1 or the Grace Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
