I knew Greg in 1976; where he helped me fit in at a new job at Sheldon-Williams. He was a second or third year teacher, I leaned on his expertise, sense of humour and incredible artistic talent. He would create remarkable maps and graphs on the blackboard, seemingly from memory, complete with contrasting colours and shading. He was unreal, a true gifted, happy artist.
I looked up Greg’s name on the internet, because I wanted to share with my artist wife, Cynthia his talent. I was saddened to learn about his untimely passing, kindly accept my late condolences. Peace-out, Jack Fulton

I'm so sorry for your loss. Mr. Leblond was my art teacher and chess mentor. I wish I had the chance to get to know him, now that I'm a man. He was full of wisdom and life that I just couldn't quite comprehend when we crossed paths, but he still left a lasting impact on my life. His art room was a sanctuary for students. Some would come and go, popping in at all hours of the day. Some, long graduated, would stop by just to say "Hi". He created a safe place for fun and creativity to flourish. He had faith and trust in me, when I'm not sure I had it in myself.
It's too bad we never had the chance to cross paths again, even for just a cup of coffee and one more chess match.
He was a good man and will surely be missed by all.

I am so sad to hear we have lost this amazing man too soon and many of my fellow Sheldon grads mourn this news. But I am so grateful to have had one final visit with him last Fall at the big reunion...I have posted a painting he did that I bought from him in 82 as I love cows and also wanted a tangible memory of one of my looming art mentors. He created a refuge for us at Sheldon and I would often sit and draw after class there with the radio on. My dad Ken taught Greg (Lakeview?) and alsosends his condolences saying Greg was always a bright light. I'd have to agree...glad to get a report from family friend Paula Miller, His Teaching colleague, That the celebration was special. I knew it could be nothing but... and, though I live in Victoria now, I was with you all in spirit!

I as so very sorry to learn of Mr. LeBlond's passing.
Although I only attended Sheldon for my graduating year ('88), my time in Mr. LeBlond's Social Studies class and especially Mr. LeBlond himself left indelible memories. Prior to Mr. LeBlond's class, I had no interest in Social Studies; but his boundless enthusiasm for the subject matter, his puckish smile, and his unwavering positivity left me unexpectedly captivated by Social Studies. He was always able to strike the delicate balance between being teacher and friend, authority and guide and that left his students feeling respected, appreciated, valued, and motivated.
Years after graduation when I visited Sheldon during Mr. LeBlond's final year, he still recognized me and recalled details about his time as both my and my brother's teacher inquiring, in a genuinely interested way, about what we had been up to over the years.
I consider myself privileged to have been in one of Mr. LeBlond's classes and to have had him touch my life as he did.

I was very saddened to hear of Greg’s passing and I'm deeply sorry for your loss. I’m a former student of Greg’s from Sheldon Williams. Many of my former classmates were sharing their thoughts on social media in the past few days, all showing love and admiration for a great teacher and man. I’ll never forget the support he gave to all us at that age. Very sad to hear about him passing, but I’m sure he had a bright, colourful life. He was one of the few teachers I met in my entire education that really made all students believe they had potential in some degree. I never forgot him and often wondered what he was up to. If every teacher was like Greg the world would be a brighter, happier and more peaceful place – I’m certain of it.

I'm very sad to hear the news of Mr. LeBlond's passing. I'm not at all surprised to see so many messages of condolence from former students. I recall when I went to Sheldon (91-94) it seemed like people never wanted to leave Greg's art class, popping in to say hello and update him on what was going on in their lives.
He came to my final exhibition when I was graduating from U of R with my BFA, five years after high school. It was such a sweet, unexpected gesture. I don't think I had kept in touch, but often thought of him fondly.
It was a pleasure to have him as a mentor. Like so many others, I appreciated his warmth, enthusiasm and kindness. He seemed to succeed when his students succeeded. I can remember how proud he seemed to be if we ever jumped into our work whole heartedly.
Thanks for everything Mr. LeBlond, You are missed.

Mr LeBlond was one of a kind. I returned to Regina a couple of times 10 or so years after I graduated, and I stopped in especially to see him at Sheldon. He was so inviting and genuinely happy to see me. First thing, he hustled me to the Art toom, put a big black marker in my hand and said 'Sign the Wall!'. While its been many years since I have seen him, my memories of him are close, and I am saddened by his passing. He was amazing.

His was one of my favourite classes and he, one of my favourite teachers -- I remember so much about how much fun we had in his class. We'd put on our favourite cassette (I think he wondered at our taste, sometimes) or have the radio on and work on our art in complete happiness. He'd watch over us and occasionally point us in a better direction -- I was always so thankful for his thoughts and insight. It's amazing how, at 67, he looks just like he did when he was 35. He could take a subject like history, which was usually pretty dry, and make it entertaining and engaging, thereby making us want to learn more. He encouraged us to think critically of the subject matter and not just accept what was in the textbooks. He was also one of the most genuinely happy people I've ever met, never did I hear a discouraging remark or negative comment from him. He also treated his students like they were actual people. He always greeted our curiosity and questions with a smile or a joke and gave us the confidence to trust our own knowledge. You will be missed Mr. LeBlond, be myself and many others.

Mr. LeBlond was my art teacher at Sheldon Williams Collegiate from 1989-1993. As a young girl I was always drawing and painting. I was a bit eccentric, expressed myself in flamboyant clothing, and because I didn't fit the typical molds I often felt misunderstood in school - until I walked into Mr. LeBlond's classroom. I distinctly remember the moment that he made me feel like an artist. That I had every right to creatively express myself however I wished, and that there are no rules in art. I have always credited Mr. LeBlond for giving me the confidence to call myself an artist, despite what restrictions and rules and expectations society may have put on me. I will always remember his gentle nature and that he made me feel like I was the only student he ever taught. More than 20 years later, Mr. LeBlond would have a conversation with my Mom where he chatted with her about my talent. As a grown woman with children of my own, practicing art more than ever, it brought tears to my eyes that he remembered me all those years and students later. He even remembered specific details about my work. Mr. LeBlond, thank you for believing in me, for helping me to believe in myself, and for saving me from leaving art behind. Yours was the only class I refused to skip and I am forever grateful for your service as a teacher, and a wonderful human being. My heart and my deepest condolences go out to Mr. LeBlond's family for your most profound, unimaginable loss. He was a giant among men.

I credit him with my start in photography (my passion to this day), my love of all things art (oil painting, stop motion, popsicle stick building) and many other happy memories. As my social studies teacher I remember he invented some game show (it was a horrible, terrible terrible "politics in Saskatchewan" sort of game). But he made it entertaining and fun, we had theme music and different categories. He was so engaging, inclusive and caring. I have always treasured my memories of him as my favourite teacher, I will continue. I hope he never did finish that "Buffalo in the blizzard" painting, it was perfect the way it was. He inspired creativity in me in ways I will forever be grateful for. It truly was an honour to have been his student.
Terry Pratchett in Reaper Man said... "No one is actually dead until the ripples they cause in the world die away."
In this way, Greg will live forever.
Sending all of my thoughts and sympathies to his family as you grieve the loss of a truly great man. You will be thought of fondly always and greatly missed, Mr. Leblond.

Greg was a wonderful teacher and inspiration, and I fondly remember my years in the Sheldon art room as one of the foundational points in my development as a professional artist. He was always kind to me, and such a good conversationalist. So sorry to hear of his passing. My condolences. Thank you, Greg.

Mr. LeBlond was an amazing individual whom I have to thank for many profound insights that I can still recall today. He was a man that was never afraid to make me think deeper and question the status quo or my own logical conclusions. His teaching style and inspiration is something that will never be forgotten. Mr. LeBlond as I knew him, as my grade 11 and 12 psychology teacher from classes back in 04 and 05 was a man full of influence, compassion and intrigue all of which are qualities that any young man going through highschool looked forward to meeting on the way into his classroom. It was a real pleasure and an honest privilege to have met such a genuine and charismatic individual.
I hope as you travel through lifes experiences and spend your time in the coming days you can carry on with some of the same qualities that Mr. LeBlond brought with him everyday into the classroom.
Sincerely,
Michael Offet

It hurts my heart to see that you have passed away at such a young age. Mr.LeBlond you were my absolute favorite teacher in high school. Art class was the one I look forward to the most as I could just be me and free to run wild creatively, which you always encouraged. Your obituary mentions you making your students feel like they were the only ones in the room and it is so true. I got lost in your classes. And still to this day I get complimented on my creativity and artistic flair and I believe because of your encouragement that your helped paved that way for me. Thank you for being an amazing teacher. I'm sad I didn't get to see you again. My deepest condolences to your loved ones. Paint the sky!

Only got to know Greg for a short time thru golf and helping each other out with the docks. He was always there with a smile on his face. What a bright and cheerful gentleman, he will be sadly missed.
