Obituary of Donald Gregory LeBlond

DONALD GREGORY LEBLOND Greg LeBlond, of Regina Beach, SK, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017 at the age of 67 years. Predeceased by parents Rupert and Katherine, Greg is survived by wife Jeannie; son Ryan (Jocelyn) of Regina; son Brett (Kristin) of Regina; grandchildren, Keira, Honora, Julia, and Clarissa; sister Judy (Barry) Eisenzimmer of Regina; and nephew Joey. With a passion for art as a child, Greg initially focused on cartoons. He grew as an artist to produce beautiful paintings with a particular talent for bringing landscapes and animals to life on the canvas. A graduate of the University of Regina, majoring in Social Studies and minoring in Fine Arts, Greg taught art at Sheldon Williams Collegiate for 31 years. As a teacher, he inspired his students with his passion for art and life and touched the lives of many. Greg had a special gift for listening to each person as if they were the only one in the room. After retirement, Greg continued to follow his passions by teaching and painting in his studio at the Last Mountain Lake Cultural Centre and serving on the Executive. He was an avid golfer, active member and past president of the Regina Beach Men’s Golf Club, and was a favourite golfing partner because of his encouraging nature. A skilled downhill skier, Greg was known for hitting the slopes in his blue jeans and vest but easily outskiing those half his age sporting fancy gear. He found joy in his boat and spent many hours with Jeannie, exploring the hills and shorelines surrounding Last Mountain Lake and relaxing on the waves. Greg deeply treasured his grandchildren and could always be counted on for imaginative games, snacks, and late bedtimes. Always curious and eager to explore, Greg treasured his off-the-beaten-path travels and spent many winters driving to Mexico and back and mixing with the local culture. For Greg, rules were only suggestions and he always saw opportunities where others saw closed doors. Greg considered himself fortunate to be surrounded by so many good friends and underestimated the impact that he had on the lives of others. Memorial Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends so wishing, may make donations, in memoriam, to Last Mountain Lake Cultural Centre, Greg LeBlond Memorial Fund, Box 70, Regina Beach, SK S0G 4C0.
