Obituary of Gladys Jean Crawford

Gladys passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the age of 89 years. She was predeceased by her parents Harold and Nora Exelby; husband George (Doc) Weninger; second husband Clayton Crawford; brothers, William (Billy), Gerald and Ross; and sisters, Zelma, Verna and Dorothy (Dort). Gladys is survived by her children, Diane (Ron) McMillan, Vicki (Ray) Theriault, George Weninger and Cheryl (Cam) Reid; grandchildren, Jayda (Calvin), Jody, Lori (Allan), Krista (Kevin), Amber, Cassidy and Carter; great-grandchildren, Teagan, Rylee and Leighton; brother Jim (Esther); sisters, Marj McKenzie and Doreen (George) Gillies; sister-in-law Dorothy Exelby; brother-in-law Harry Beblow as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mom enjoyed skating and dancing in her younger years. She spent a lot of time travelling, crocheting, knitting, making afghans, dishcloths and hand towels. Mom loved crafts and gardening and her flowers were always abundant and beautiful. She was such a hard worker; cleaning houses, waitressing, cooking for pipeline crews and cleaning and cooking for up to seven boarders at one time plus her own family. Mom enjoyed cooking large meals especially at Christmas when she would prepare a four or five course meal with all the fancy china and crystal. The last few years Mom has spent living at Victoria Park Care Home in Regina and became less active. She enjoyed playing Bingo and watching the entertainment. Mom had many special friends in her life and cherished all the memories and good times and spoke of them often. Special thanks to Maurice and Shirley Filson and Barb Harker and Herb Schulz. Memorial Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK, on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Kathy Platt officiating. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park.
