Arlene Omilon

Obituary of Arlene Gay Omilon

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Arlene passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2017, at the age of 72 years, after a recent diagnosis of cancer.  With a quiet resolve, Arlene used what little energy she had to support those around her, which was her nature.  Arlene was predeceased by her parents, John and Zena Mott. She will be deeply missed by her loving family: husband Paul; daughter Janine (Jeff) Fotheringham and their children Jack, Clare and Meg; son David and his son Michael (Victoria); sister Karen Mott (Mark Scott); sister-in-law Lorraine (Ken) Martin; sister-in-law Francis Stokaluk; brother-in-law Michael (Marie), as well as nieces and nephews and their families of whom she was very fond.

Arlene worked for many years in the banking business. Among her roles was customer service, an area that she excelled at given her competence, her genuine interest in people, and her interpersonal skills.

Arlene was many things to many people but first and foremost she was a loyal partner to Paul, a devoted mom, a loving grandma, a dear sister, and a good friend. Arlene was always ready for new adventures especially if they involved the kids in the family. Arlene was a loyal Rider fan and knew her football inside and out.  Arlene loved to knit. In addition to knitting scarves and slippers for her daughter and granddaughters, she loved to knit hats for newborn babies at the Regina General Hospital. She enjoyed cross-stitching, baking, and playing cards, especially poker and bridge. Arlene also enjoyed flowers and birds and many other beautiful things just like her.

Funeral Mass will be held at Resurrection Parish 3155 Windsor Park Road, Regina, SK. on Monday, August 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m

The family is thankful for all the prayers and support during Arlene’s brief journey with cancer, as well as for the care from the many physicians, nurses, and staff. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Arlene may be made to the Regina Palliative Care Unit, 3A 4101 Dewdney Ave. Regina, SK, S4T 1A5 or a charity of choice.

Arlene’s family would like to thank you for attending the celebration of her life and for your prayers and kind words of comfort.
