Obituary of Graham Tuer

 

                                                  MAY 23, 1930 – AUGUST 29, 2017

Graham was born May 23, 1930 in North Battleford, Saskatchewan to William and Lizzie Belle Tuer.  He was the third of three boys.  He was predeceased by his parents; his beloved wife Verna; brothers, James and William; sisters-in-law, Lois Sparrow and Lenore Perkins and brother-in law Herbert Sparrow. Graham is survived by his children, Donna, Kathryn Tokar (Norbert Raabe), Allan (Diana) and Greg; grandchildren, Sarah Zacharias (Stuart), Brock Tokar (Stephanie), Tarik Tokar, Khas Tokar, Braun Tuer (Cloe), Dallas Tuer (Devan), Carly Bunnell (Daryl) and Cale Tuer-Treble; as well as numerous great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Starting out building bridges for the Department of Highways Graham went on to a career of over 35 years with the provincial government, retiring in 1987 as the Director of Human Resources.  During that time he began his work in hockey.  He began as a volunteer at the local level when his boys began playing hockey and went on to become involved with various organizations at the provincial and national levels.  These included the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League, the Regina Pats, the Moose Jaw Warriors, the Kelowna Rockets and NHL Central Scouting.  Along the way Graham’s dedication was rewarded with many awards including inductions into the Regina Sports Hall of Fame and the Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame as well as an Award of Merit from Hockey Canada. Graham will be greatly missed by his family and the many friends he made along the way.

 A Service honoring his memory will be held at the Queensbury Convention Centre, 1700 Elphinstone Street, Regina, SK on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Saskatchewan, 1738 Quebec Avenue, Unit 26, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9.
