DAVID LYLE “EGUY” BENJOE III

September 5, 1975 – September 9, 2017

On Saturday, September 9, 2017, a great warrior was suddenly called home to the spirit world at the age of 42. David was born on September 5, 1975 to David Benjoe Jr. and Marlene Mosquito (Anaskan).

He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather Roderick Anaskan; paternal grandparents, David Benjoe Sr. and Rosa Benjoe (Obey); his beloved Moshum Frank Kaiswatum; infant brother Mathew Anaskan; father-in-law Maxwell Perkins; late sister Daphne Benjoe.

David had the heart and spirit of a True Warrior. He was a son, brother, husband, father, uncle, and friend. David lived his life to the fullest and enjoyed and played many sports. He also lived his dream of becoming a Teacher and had just recently received his Masters Degree in Education and Art from the First Nations University of Canada, where he became an Associate Professor. David’s passion was Art and he loved to paint. His speciality was realism and his talent was truly displayed in all his work. A dream of his came true, when he had the opportunity to have some of his art work displayed twice at the Mackenzie Art Gallery.

David is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Gaylene; daughter Athena; son Joshua Benjoe; father David Benjoe II; mother Marlene Mosquito (Anaskan); siblings, Noreen, Caroline (Eugene) Wahobin, Dustin, Stana, Darrin Anaskan, Amy, and Katelyn Mosquito; goddaughter Kahteri Buckles; adopted brother Ian Nighttraveller; best friend Randall Lavallee; maternal grandmother Ann Rockthunder; “Big Mom” Yvonne Benjoe; other family members of whom he took as his siblings, Virginia (Hank) Buckles, Wendell, Audrey (Brad), Rhonda (Chris), Kim, Elroy, and Kerry (Nathan); mother-in-law Sandra (Owen) Delorme; father-in-law Allen (Vera) Delorme; sisters-in-law, Tanya (Lewis) Delorme and Shelby (Curtis) Delorme; brothers-in-law, Rylan (Candace) Delorme and Sirayne Perkins; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and associates.

Wake will be held at the First Nations University of Canada,1 First Nations Way, Regina, SK on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at 4:30 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at the First Nations University of Canada on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.
