JEAN KING

July 4, 1941 – September 27, 2017

Jean tread softly and lived harmoniously with nature. Her garden was her delight and she could grow anything, and did. Jean’s life journey took her to northern Saskatchewan to work for SaskPower, then to the University of Regina to obtain a B. Ed. She taught in Regina, on Cochin and Pasqua First Nations reserves, and Nokomis. Jean, off to another career, studied weaving at SIAST in Prince Albert. She was a consummate weaver, spinner, and dyer of silk, wool, and other fibre.

Jean, with her partner Ann Donovan, had a wonderful life of adventures: trail riding, dog racing, folk festivals, traveling, and many years at their cottage at Saskatchewan Beach. Jean’s spirit and never ending curiosity about life, made her a force of nature. She had the ability to listen and hear behind the words. Jean did not make assumptions and responded quietly with wisdom. She was fiercely independent and will be missed by all whose path she touched.

Jean was predeceased by her parents, Elsie Annie Miller and James Ferguson King. She is survived by her partner Ann Donovan; and cousins, Linda Euteneier, Murray Miller, Robert Miller, all of Regina, Marg Forbes of Calgary, and Debbie Edwards of Govan.

There will be a celebration of Jean’s life at a later date.
