Obituary of Fernanda Gallichan

FERNANDA “FERN” GALLICHAN

Fern, late of Regina, SK, passed away after a brave fight with cancer on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at the age of 66 years. She was predeceased by her father Sylvio Rotondi; mother Ada Rotondi (Levesque); step-father Gerald Levesque; and sister Stefania D’Errico. Fern is survived by her husband Ray Gallichan of Regina; son John (Alison) Gallichan of Calgary; daughter Jennifer Gallichan of Regina; grandchildren, Bane, Eva, Sophia, and Hunter; sisters, Ivana (Al) Warr, Laura (Rick) Bickford, and Sandra (Durrell) Ewing; brother Claudio (Mary) Rotondi; as well as the Gallichan family, cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. She was born on January 21, 1951 in Hautrage, Belgium. In 1952, Fern and her family immigrated to Canada from Belgium. They arrived in Halifax, NS and soon settled in Val D’Or, QC. It was there that she attended school, and eventually met and married her future husband Ray Gallichan, while Ray was on the military base there. Fern and Ray married October 26, 1968 in Val D’Or. With Ray’s service in the military, they traveled throughout Canada and Europe making great friendships throughout this time with many of these friendships still ongoing today. With their regular postings, Fern had the opportunity to work in different service positions on the military bases. Wherever she worked she loved to help people and would always give of her time and resources to help wherever and whenever she could. Fern loved to bowl and play baseball in her younger years. More recently she loved shopping – for anyone. Fern loved travelling south or cruising in the winter and the holidays, spending time with her family and friends. Whenever she could, Fern made it a priority to share and be a part of those special events and moments for her family. Memorial Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Fern may be made to the Regina Palliative Care Unit Inc., 200 - 2150 Scarth Street, Regina, SK S4P 2H7.
