I only met Doug through Senior curling at the Callie but it was always a pleasure to be around him. I wish there were more people in this world who have the positive attitude I saw in Doug. My sincerest condolences to his family.

Very sad to see Doug in the paper. He was a kind person and had a funny side. We worked together at the Budget Bureau in the early 70’s when the checks for the provincial budget papers were all proof read by hand and eye. Doug was a master for the details. A great guy. Thanks for the memories.

I read the paper today and saw the news of Doug's passing. Although we did not know him well, we remember him as such a friendly and hard working person at St. Luke's church. He remembered our names and was always so genuine when we visited with him there. My father, Ron Thatcher, attended the church for many years and spoke very highly of him also. Our prayers are with your family at this sad time of loss. May special memories give you comfort as you celebrate a life well lived.

I would like to extend my sympathy to the Clarke family on the passing of Doug. He and I shared a common point of origination namely Kamsack where I grew up and went to school. I was in elementary school and Doug who was eight years older was in high school. We kids used to look up to him because he would always talk to us and because we thought he had the neatest nickname, "Gunner!"
Of course we also shared the same green and white provincial obsession which has been passed on to Barry. I think we have been season ticket holders for about 50 years.
Again, my thoughts are with you as you mourn the passing of a good man.
