Since your family moved onto Beaverbrook Street back in grade 2 .... my lasting memory of your mom is her beautiful smile and welcoming spirit. I am pretty sure your kitchen, which by far was the coolest, with the built in eating booth ... was where we spent most of our time... especially in junior high when your house was the closest. I recall many happy times at that table ..Joyce always feeding us. She always made time for people, and always shared her joy of life. She was the ultimate hostess...so welcoming, and so interested in all who ended up in her home, or the cabin at Clear Lake ... so many breakfasts at the wood stove! What a lifetime of memories!
She always had some creative project on the go ... sewing when we were younger (even my blue grade nine grad dress!) and painting when we were older. She inspired me to follow my passion to create by her continued creating.
Marlene, Lori Ann & Shannon - you are blessed to have had such a beautiful woman as your mother and your mentor.... she lives in each of you - especially her twinkly eyes and beautiful smile. Your families were so lucky to have her as a grandma and mother in law. Love lives on. Sorry I cannot be with you tomorrow.... I am going to hold tight to my memory of her and Bill dancing at Cara and Michael's wedding.
