Obituary of Joyce Hazel Dunn

January 16, 1939 – August 3, 2018

Joyce Dunn (née Gardiner) is lovingly remembered by her husband Bill; daughters: Marlene Wirachowsky (Ken), Lori Ann Kirby (Dan), and Shannon Nixon (Glen). She was the proud grandmother to Cara (Mike), Melissa, Jordan (Lexi), Matthew, Allan, and Jared. Joyce is also survived by her siblings: Marilyn (John), Ken (Fay), and Garry (Heather). She was predeceased by her parents, Gordon and Hazel Gardiner; her in-laws, George and Ellen Dunn and George’s second wife Jean Dunn; and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Dean and Brian St. George. Joyce was born and grew up on the family farm near Clearwater, MB. She graduated from Teacher’s College at age 19.  Later, after Joyce had raised her family, she earned her Bachelor of Education from the University of Regina. Joyce happily spent her time volunteering at church, Regina General Hospital for over 20 years, and many years with Clare Parker Homes. She had many interests including painting, bridge, curling, and church choir. The time Joyce treasured most was time spent with family and friends at the cabin at Clear Lake. A Celebration of Joyce’s Life will be held at Eastside United Church, 3018 Doan Drive, Regina, SK on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. A private family interment will be held earlier in the day at Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, friends so wishing may make a donation to Clare Parker Homes Inc., #403 – 2206 Dewdney Ave., Regina, SK S4R 1H3. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Regina Pasqua Hospital and especially the staff in the Palliative Care unit. A special thank you goes out to Dr. D. for his kind care of Joyce.
