Obituary of Mary Kathleen Fidlar

Mary Fidlar passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Autumn Personal Care Home in Regina on Tuesday, September 25, 2018. She will be fondly remembered by her sister Wendy (Frank) Casamassima and their children, David Casamassima, Jane (Paul) Severino and family, and Mathew Casamassima and family, as well as her sister-in-law Lillian Fidlar and niece Jacqui (partner John) Fidlar, as well as numerous cousins and friends. Mary was born in Regina and worked in Winnipeg before returning to Regina. She worked for many years in the Department of Veterans Affairs in Regina. Mary enjoyed playing the piano and singing. She was in the choir at St. Luke’s Anglican Church for 50 years, retiring from that position in 2009. Mary was an expert at knitting and smocking. She won numerous prizes in shows at the Regina Exhibition, and many family members and friends received hand-made clothing from her. Mary was a warm, kind, compassionate woman and she will be missed. She was predeceased by her parents David and Kathleen Fidlar, as well as her brother David and her sister Patricia. Mary’s family thanks the management and staff at Autumn Personal Care Home for their kind and compassionate care of Mary for the past seven years. A Celebration of Mary’s Life will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Thursday, October 4, 201 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Michael Bruce officiating. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s memory may be made to a charity of choice.
