I have been out of the country and upon returning I have just learnt of the sad news about Ted. When I started employment at the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, I had the honour of working with him, providing policy support services regarding the many major roles and activities he undertook as President and later his tenure with Prairie Pools. In particular, are memories involving various agricultural policies including international trade issues and developments which had major implications for the prosperity of all the industry participants. He was truly a representative of farmers, farm families, rural communities and both the Saskatchewan and Canadian agriculture sectors. He worked tirelessly and with focused passion and dedication to advance and improve the livelihood of farm families. His contributions are an important part of Saskatchewan’s history of evolution and progress. I remember, while we laughed about it after words, once while on our way to high level meetings with government officials in down town Toronto, we shared some scary times in a taxi when the brakes failed in the car. While at the Sasktchewan Wheat Pool and times after, I started a photography business with key priorities centering on capturing photographs of the iconic and most memorable portraits and vistas of the quintessential Saskatchewan Wheat Pool wood elevators that once formed the skylines of towns and dotted the Prairie landscape as sentinels to a bygone era.
Respectfully. Murray Bryck, Vancouver

Dear Mel and family, It was with great sadness that I read about Chad’s untimely passing. I have been blessed by knowing you and Tad for almost 45 years and my life has been enriched many times over with your presence is in it. If mankind ever comes to the point of cloning the human being and they want of the Proto type , My choice would’ve been Ted for he exemplifies all the qualities that a good person should have patience, gentleness, kindness, and wisdom. Ted had all of these and More and that is what made him such a great man . I know you have strong faith in this time of sorrow and that you’ll be borne up but I Gwant you to know that you are not alone as you mourn the passing of a great man. Peace to all of you.

My sincere condolences to Mel and the Turner family. I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Ted on U of S alumni and fundraising campaigns for over 35 years. There was no more sincere or convincing advocate for the U of S or Saskatchewan. Ted was equally comfortable at board tables and coffee tables where his enthusiasm was infectious. His many abilities, contributions and accomplishments were only surpassed by his modesty. I learned many life lessons from Ted, the importance of integrity and love of family among them. I was humbled on the golf course by him more than once - always with a smile and a slap on the back. Ted was a very special guy, a great friend and example to us all. Mel was a perfect match. We are all fortunate to have known Ted and grateful for the time he spent with each of us.

I won’t be able to attend the service in Regina but my thoughts will be with you and your family.

To the Turner family.
My wife Linda joins me in offering you our deepest sympathy on the recent death of Ted Turner, one of Saskatchewan's most prominent citizens. Ted left us with a legacy of service to others as the result of his distinguished life and careers.
After reading Ted's wonderful autobiography "Beyond the Farm Gate" I had the honour of interviewing him about his life on my current and public affairs program Listen Up at 91.3 FM CJTR Regina community on December 19, 2017. At that time I had also provided Ted with a copy of a CD of this discussion for his family. Ours was a wonderful chat.

Forever, the memories of the dedication of the Great Western Trail posts in Regina and in Val Marie will be fond memories that I return to.
Know that my love and sympathy are being sent to you and your family.
What an honor and privilege it was to call Ted and you friends.
The video that Ted made only days before his death is a tribute to his strength of spirit and desire to carry the name of Saskatchewan to others on the Great Western Trail in San Antonio, Texas, at the post rededication ceremony.

Ted spoke in a robust voice to send the message via video about the importance of the Great Western Trail to Canada. Ted said that Gene Griffith and Doug Alexander were holding him up as he spoke. Forever, this act of Rotary friendship, which shows the spirit of the trail will be embedded in my heart and will live on in the Rotarians who attended, especially Past Rotary International President Ray Klinginsmith.

Velma and I wish to extend our deepest sympathy to Mel and family at this time of sorrow and loss. I was privileged to have worked with Ted and I watched him work in the boardroom and his values and competence were always of a high standing. As President of Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, Chancellor of the University of Saskatchewan and key fundraiser for the new College of Agriculture he greatly earned his Saskatchewan Order of Merit, his Honorary Doctorate and the Order of Canada. It was just like him to take up skiing and golf just a little later in life than many of us but he conquered both. He was dedicated to his family, his church and the ideals of Rotary.
Most of all I will miss his friendship and our long chats. We are all poorer by his departure but grateful for the time he was with us. May he rest in the Lord's peace.
