It is with great sorrow and sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunty, Cousin and Friend; who was called to the Spirit World with family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer. To greet her with open arms into the Spirit World are her parents Edward and Dolly Chicoose, Sister Barbara Asapace and Nephew Scotty Chicoose along with Aunts, Uncles and Grandparents. She leaves behind to celebrate her life: daughters, Melody (Mike), Brandy, Ashley (Lawrence), and Jaylene; special grandson Rydell; Sisters; Frances, Linda (Warren), Beverly, Heather and Della (Darryle), Brothers; Edward and Eldon; Grandchildren; Joelle, Braden, Devon, Isaac, Hayden, Lawrence, Elijah, Nevaeh, Dominic, Phoenix, Ayanna, Kingston, Justice, Kieren, Kiaro, Elise, Hazel, Chenoa and special great-grandson Dante, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her Sun Dance Family.  Our Mother was very proud of all her children, grandchildren and great grandson. She was a very caring, strong, loving, and proud woman. We will miss her courage, strength, independence, wisdom, wit, humour, smile, laughter, beauty and grace. She believed in living and providing a positive, healthy environment in all aspects of her life. She always instilled her parents’ morals and values onto her children, grandchildren and great grandson. She strongly believed in her cultural teachings and traditional ways. She loved to travel and attend powwows all over Indian Country, proudly watching her grandsons Rydell and Isaac dance. She spent numerous years in the arenas supporting her grandsons play hockey and lacrosse. Her political career began when she was elected Chief of Pasqua First Nation and then Tribal Vice Chairperson for File Hills Qu’Appelle Tribal Council. Prior to her political years she worked with Regina Native Women, FSIN, Pasqua First Nation, Qu’Appelle Haven Safe Shelter, Touchwood CFS and All Nations Healing Hospital. The family would like to thank the caring staff at the Regina Pasqua Hospital Palliative Care Unit, All Nations Healing Hospital, Allan Blair Cancer Centre and Pasqua First Nation Chief & Council. And a special thank you to the family members and BFCHS who provided meals for the family during her final days. Traditional Wake will be held at Chief Ben Paskwa Memorial Hall, Pasqua First Nation on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be at Chief Ben Paskwa Memorial Hall, Pasqua First Nation on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. The family respectfully ask that no children to be at the Wake.
