Obituary of Shelly Lynn Howse

JULY 8, 1967 – JANUARY 17, 2019

It is with great sadness that the family of Shelly Lynn Howse (Stephen) of Rowatt, SK., announces her peaceful passing, with her husband by her side, at the Pasqua Hospital on Thursday, January 17, 2019, at the age of 51 years.  Shelly was born July 8, 1967 in Regina, SK., growing up and receiving her education there.  She had her struggles battling Hodgkins Lymphoma as a child, receiving aggressive treatment to combat the disease, and combat she did, she remained in remission for over 40 years!  Shelly graduated from Martin Collegiate and continued on to Business College, achieving her office administrative diploma.  She held several positions in her career but, spent the last twenty four years with Great West Life Assurance (formerly Crown Life).  Shelly had a love for music and dance as a young woman, performing as a member of a hand bell choir and competing in Irish and country dance.  After meeting Len, the love of her life, the two were married at Knox Metrpolitan United Church and eventually settled on their little piece of heaven, out in the country just south of Regina, where they made so many incredible friends.  They became experts for a number of years, raising and showing Commercial and Purebred Boer goats.  A very proud moment when they received the Commercial and Purebred Grand Champion banners at the Western Canadian Agribition.  Shelly loved the country life and especially gatherings with family and friends around a summer bonfire.  She spent hours tending to her yard and flowers, which she loved.  Travelling and adventure was something she tried to do as often as she could and enjoyed many winter getaways through the years.  She had such a zest for life, enjoyed having fun and didn’t hesitate to try something new.  Shelly will be sadly missed by her husband Leonard, of 27 beautiful years; half-sister, Heather (Kelvin) Hipke and their children, Chrystal Hipke, Michelle Beglau, Charity and Theresa Hipke of Regina, SK.; brother-in-law, Bob Chaulk and family of Toronto, ON., the children of half brother, Leslie Jackson (predeceased), Katrina, Jacob and Samantha Jackson; mother-in-law, Alice Howse of Avonlea, SK.; brother-in-law Warren (Michelle) Howse of Avonlea, SK.; sister-in-law, Linda (Lyle) Boston and their son, Nathanial of Regina, SK.; as well as special friends, Frieda and Kristen Levasseur and her son, Brayden of Regina, SK., Janelle Levasseur (Jean-Pierre Marcil) of Regina, SK., Paul and Carla Collins and their children, Ashley and Colby of Rowatt, SK.,  Kevin and Karen Beiber and family of Rowatt, SK., Nasarano and Rita Barbaro and family of Rowatt, SK., Antonia Barbaro and family of Rowatt, SK., Les and Heather Mountenay and family of Bethune, SK., and also extended family and friends.  Shelly was predeceased by her parents, Basil Stephen and Ruby Harkness of Regina, SK.; half sister, Marilyn Chaulk of Toronto, ON.; half brother, Leslie Jackson of Raddison, SK.; and father-in-law, Rodger Howse of Avonlea, SK. Funeral Service will be held at Knox-Metropolitan United Church, 2340 Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK, on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at 1:00 p.m.  Private family interment.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hospitals of Regina Foundation www.hrf.ca.  Very special thank you to cousin, Cheryl Winger of Brandon, MB., for her love, support and medical expertise throughout this most difficult time.  To the doctors and nurses at the Pasqua Hospital ICU for their care and compassion, thank you.
