Obituary of Jennifer Anne Eisler

EISLER, Jennifer Anne

December 15, 1982 – January 20, 2019

After a four year journey living with Metastatic Breast Cancer, our dear Jennifer passed away at home on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at the age of 36 years old. She was predeceased by her grandparents George and Ellen Stone and John and Anne Eisler; aunts and uncles, Phyllis and Al Vogt, Leonard Eisler, Leo Untereiner; and cousin Jason Eisler. Jennifer is survived by her parents, Syd and Shirley Eisler; sister Janelle (Eamonn Price); best furry friend, Mufasa; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins from the Eisler, Stone, Vogt, Untereiner, and Youle families.

Jennifer grew up in Regina, graduated from Michael A. Riffel High School, and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Media Production and Studies at the University of Regina. She loved to experience travel, listen to music and have dance parties, watch movies especially horror films, read books of every variety, practice yoga and meditation, and spending time with family, friends, and her beloved cat. Jen’s passion for music extended to hosting a radio program on CJTR called “Sweet Sweet Candy,” recommending and selling music at CD Plus, working in several positions with SaskMusic, assisting music publicists in Toronto, and eventually opening her own music publicity business in Regina: Jen Eisler Publicity.

There is much to be said about the courage and bravery Jen showed since her diagnosis. Jen handled the ups and downs with such grace and perseverance to live and to live well. Common words associated with cancer like “fight” and “battle” never clicked with Jen. She never wanted to think about fighting herself. Instead, Jen worked daily toward mindfulness, realism, acceptance, and a self love attitude. Some days it definitely wasn’t easy, but she was a very determined person. Her outlook and approach to life has helped and inspired many. Jen’s legacy and cancer journey are immortalized in her online blog: jeneislerblog.com

It is impossible for such few words to encapsulate the incredible person Jen was. Her achievements were endless. Her thirst for knowledge limitless. Her love for those around her immeasurable. Jen will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by all those whose lives she touched.

The family is eternally grateful for the care Jen received over the years. Thank you to Dr. Pappas for listening and teaching Jen the tools to manage emotions. Thank you to Dr. Khan, the nurses, and all the staff at the Alan Blair Cancer Clinic for giving us more time with Jen. Thank you to the Palliative Care nurses (especially Sister April, Krista, and Lisa) and support staff, who came to our home to help care for Jen and keep her comfortable. Please join us for a Celebration of Jennifer’s Life at the Conexus Arts Centre, Theatre Lobby, 200 Lakeshore Drive, Regina, SK on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at 1:00 p.m.
