Donald Delparte

Obituary of Donald George Delparte

It is with great sadness that the family of Donald Delparte of Regina announces his passing on Friday, March 1, 2019, at the age of 83, surrounded by his loving family at Regina General Hospital. Don was predeceased by his parents George and Christina; sisters Mary and Margaret; and son Brian. Don will be forever remembered by his loving wife of over 60 years, Kathleen; his children, Robert (Jackie), Marie (Bob), and Donna (Rick); grandchildren, Amanda, Chelsea, Brian, Mark, and Patrick; great-grandson Luke; his brothers Lloyd and Ron; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Don grew up on a farm, attended early schooling near Macrorie, SK, and went on to earn his Bachelor of Civil Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan in 1958. He became district engineer in Saskatoon with the Municipal Road Assistance Authority.  That same year, Don married Kathleen, a school teacher, and settled in Saskatoon, where they started their family together.

Later, they moved to Regina, where he continued to work at the MRAA. After retiring, Don went on to work for the Federal Business Development Bank. He also spent many hours working on the farm, near Riceton.

Don was generous with his time—volunteering with the Lakeside Lions Club for over fifty years. He was an avid curler and a member for many years at the Tartan Club and later the Highland Club. Together, Don and Kay enjoyed playing golf, especially at the Wascana Country Club. They shared wonderful memories of wintering in Phoenix, going on cruises, and competing at many bridge tournaments. Waskesiu and Emma Lake were favourite places for summer holidays spent water skiing and barbequing with the family Don loved so much.

Memorial Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Don’s name may be made to a charity of your choice.
