Obituary of Roxane Delores Skelton

SKELTON, Roxane Delores

December 8, 1929 – April 21, 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce that our dearest mom passed away Easter Sunday morning. Mom was predeceased by Murray, her husband and true love of her life, in 2003; brothers, Norm (Carolyn) Pelletier of Calgary AB and Valmont (Jeanne) Pelletier of Courtney BC; as well as brothers and sisters-in-law.
Mom is survived by her four children, sons, Murray (Jr) of Toronto, ON, Curt of Regina, SK, and Jeff of Calgary, AB; daughter Renee (Scott) Berquist of Maberly, ON and their three children, Melissa, Courtney and Justin; as well as her brother Cam (Joan) Pelletier of St. Albert AB.
Also left to share our grief are Mom’s awesome sisters-in-law, Keen Maier of Regina, SK, Beryl Nesbitt of Calgary, AB, Jeanne Pelletier of Courtney, BC, and Carolyn Pelletier of Calgary, AB; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mom was born in Montmartre, SK, becoming older sister to brothers Valmont and twins, Norm and Cam. Their father passed away when Mom was 12 and by that time our grandmother had moved the family to Regina.
The most important thing in Mom’s life was Dad, whom she married in 1957. Life was never the same of course, after losing him. However, Mom did make the best of a difficult situation. She was able to continue the traditional winter trip to Palm Springs as well as many other activities, always enjoying the support of her family and amazing friends. Mom and Dad travelled extensively, including trips to Europe, Asia, the Caribbean and more. Mom also fondly recalled a tremendous trip she made to Europe with four girl friends before she and dad married.
Mom became a pharmacist and worked as a manager of Met Pharmacy downtown for many, many years (and other pharmacies) and with dad, raised us four kids while maintaining our beautiful safe home. She truly was incredible.
Over the years mom and dad loved to entertain and greatly enjoyed the hospitality of their many great friends and relatives. Whether it was playing bridge, having dinner, traveling or countless other activities they were gladly accompanied by so many awesome people - we couldn’t start to name names. You all know who you are.
We would especially like to thank everyone who stayed close to our mom after dad’s passing. Of course, she never stopped missing Dad terribly, but always knew what great people were in her life. Even on her last birthday, with so many friends and family already gone, she had phone calls all day from well wishing friends (and family of course), piles of cards and flowers galore.
It’s with pride and conviction that to us, Mom’s greatest legacy is not in her many, many accomplishments but rather how she touched the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure to know her.
Despite the immense pain of the sudden and unexpected loss of our mom, she has now joined Dad in Heaven and we are comforted in knowing that she passed peacefully in her sleep, a blessing she had hoped for whenever the time was to be.
Mom gave generously to many charities, her favorite being the Marian Centre, 1835 Halifax St., Regina, SK S4P 1T4. As such, in lieu of flowers, for those who would like, please make a donation in Roxane’s name to her favorite charity. “May you rest in peace, our dearest mom.”
