Greta
I will miss you very much. You and Bill were a huge part of our lives for so long. I have wonderful memories of you visiting Mom in the middle of the afternoon when I was a kid and teenager. I think you and her were best friends! Every visit you would start speaking German which Mom did not speak very well (having also lived in Germany with my Father Sister and Brother in the early 50's. ) Until one day years later, Mom commented how you spoke German very well... you finally admitted that you were making English words sound like German...you would laugh and it made us laugh and giggle too.
So many good memories that I cannot list here....from you shopping with my Mom and I and Robbie in our strollers to becoming my second Mom when I was in college while Mom and Dad were lazing in the sun in Florida in their retirement days...;)) while we lived with the cold weather of Ottawa!
Mom passed away and I continued to shared things in my life with you.
The last time I saw you was when I visited you in Regina while I was driving back from Calgary to Ottawa in 2016. It was a wonderful visit and we spoke while sitting in your garden at your condo on a sunny day and shared stories and caught up on life. When it was time to leave I got into my car and as I drove away I looked in my rear view mirror and knew it was the last time I would see you. I was so happy we continued to stay in touch.
Your laugh was memorable and I hear it in my mind in my heart always, your generosity and over all just being you will remain with me for ever.
Love you, Janey

My family sends condolences on Greta's passing. She was my aunt and through the life she lived represented adventure, courage, and a vital link to the story of my father's life. We always thoroughly enjoyed her visits when Uncle Bill and she would head out west and reconnect with us in Maple Ridge. She was an excellent story teller and enjoyed laughing and making others laugh. We are sorry for your loss and we are grateful to have known her.

When we arrived in Munich in 1954 we met Greta and Bill and became firm friends.
I was working with Australian Embassy Migration Office and Bill with Canadian migration.
When Bill and Greta were transferred to Stockholm, we visited them there.
Many years later we called in and stayed with Bill and Greta in Ottawa on a trip to America.
What wonderful and pleasant memories we have of the Pooles.
Bill and I corresponded from then right up to his passing.

I first met Greta while serving with the RCMP in Europe in the late 1950's. Bill, Greta, Lynn and Rob were stationed in Stuttgart while my family and I were in Bern, Switzerland. We exchanged visits and became firm friends for the rest of our lives as we worked and resided in Ottawa together in later years.
I remember occasions in Ottawa when I would visit and Bill would eventually go to bed leaving Greta and I to chat and solve the world's problems. I must have been a pain in the neck for Bill but he never said as much.
I have fond memories of both Bill and Greta that will remain with me for the rest of my life.
My sincere condolences to the family
Rest in Peace Greta
Love, Ken
