Obituary of Kevin John Guraluick
GURALUICK, Kevin John
Kevin passed away at the Regina Pasqua Hospital on Friday, July 5, 2019 with Joni, family and friends by his side, after a hard fought battle with cancer. He was born on February 22, 1961 to John and Phyllis Guraluick at the Regina Grey Nuns Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents John and Phyllis; grandparents; uncles and aunts; and friends. Kevin is survived by his wife Joni; his four legged companions, Coco and Keesha; in-laws Bernie and Pearl Lovas; sister-in-law Wanda (Darren) Kirkup; niece Brittany (Dustyn) Malinowski; brother-in-law Bernie Jr (Tanya) Lovas; nephew Brayden Lovas; the greatest friends you could ask for, Mel (Marlis) Barilla, Mitch (Carol) Fransishyn, Nelson (Shannon) Scott, Bob (Colleen) Dumur, Gerrard (Kary) Weinberger, numerous lake friends who would take time to call, text, stop by for a quick visit over the past nine months; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. Kevin grew up in Regina, but spent many weekends helping his dad, uncles, and grandma on the farm after a day’s work. Colin, Dean, and Kevin would cause havoc on Kayville Roads. Speed, NO PROBLEM. Times that they always shared when together…remember when… Kevin was a welder by trade. After breaking his back while working for Dominion Bridge, he started selling welding supplies for Air Liquide where he would not only sell but demo the product with confidence. Later he worked with a friend at Dumur Industries and lastly at Arctec Alloys. Over Kevin’s years of employment, he met a lot of great people who he called his friends, and true to that, he has made long lasting friendships. As an avid hunter Kevin would spend hours getting ready for the days away in the bush. Not a year would go by that he didn’t get a moose, elk or deer and talk about how big the animal was all year. He was a volunteer Fire Fighter with the Fort Qu’Appelle Fire Department. He enjoyed going out to help, attending the Monday meetings and the beers that followed. Kevin and Joni extend great appreciation for the exceptional care he received over his journey. To the wonderful and warm Dr. S. Meiers and her team, the nurses on Unit 6A at the General Hospital, the Allan Blair Cancer Clinic volunteers who would give Kevin hot chicken noodle soup and a smile of warmth, Dr. Iqbal and Dorraine who made Kevin feel special and kept him positive over his treatments, the nurses on Unit 3B, Oncology, 4th floor Accountable Care Unit, and Dr. Cuddington, Dr. J. Alport and nurses on Kevin’s last visit. All of you are very special people who truly made Kevin’s journey a lot easier. Again, we thank you all! A Celebration of Kevin’s Life will be held at St. Mary’s Parish Hall, 2020 Winnipeg Street, Regina, SK on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. Family requests casual dress. Flowers most gratefully declined.
