Obituary of Ellis Roney

It is with great sadness that we, the family of (James) Ellis Roney announce the sudden passing of our wonderful Dad, Grandpa (Papa) and friend on September 7, 2019 at the age of 67 years old.  Ellis was born on February 5, 1952 in Imperial, Saskatchewan.  He was predeceased by his Wife of 41 years, Leslie (Francis) Roney; and parents James (Jim) and Betty Roney. Ellis is survived by his three children, Tera (Gwynn) Howitt, Krissy (Shaun Lerat) Roney, and Eric (Kailey) Roney; his brother Murray (Leah) Roney;  he will be missed and lovingly remembered by his six grandchildren, Payton (Ryan Veltkamp), Ethan, Hannah and Wyatt Howitt, Gage Lerat, and Evelynne Roney.  He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, co-workers and friends.  We take comfort in knowing that after five years apart, Mom and Dad are back together again!  Ellis and Leslie were childhood sweethearts and started dating at the young ages of 15 and 13. They were married at 20 and 18 years old in Regina, SK on December 16, 1972. Ellis was quite the handyman and loved to help others whenever he could.  Whether he be working in his dad’s garage, digging a stranger’s car out of a snowbank or helping his friends and coworkers in the numerous careers he had throughout his life.  This is a strong legacy that he has passed down to his children, and grandchildren.   A Celebration of Ellis’ Life will be held at Westhill Park Baptist Church, 8025 Sherwood Drive, Regina, SK, on Friday, October 4, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. David Simpson Officiating. Interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park. Flowers gratefully declined.
