Obituary of Shirley Ann McDonald

Shirley Ann McDonald, late of Regina, SK, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 11, 2019 at the age of 64 years.  She was predeceased by her parents Elsie and Elmer Murk; sister Alice Tycholiz and brother Allan Murk. Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Stuart; son Warren (Jenna) of Edmonton, AB; daughter Melissa (Raf) Jaworski of Red Deer, AB; son Neil (Dela) of Regina, SK; eight grandchildren, Grady, Hayden, Zosia, Izy, Rowan, Freyja, Ru and Theia; brother-in-law Ron Tycholiz; sister-in-law Lyn Murk; brother Barry (Lynn) Murk; sister Susan Murk, sister Brenda (Ernie) Latsay; and numerous nieces and nephews. Shirley was born and raised in Plenty, SK; married Stuart in 1974 and raised their family in Melfort, SK before moving to Regina, SK in 1985.  Shirley worked as a pharmacy technician at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, SK and later at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina, SK; finishing her career and retiring in 2012.  Shirley loved to knit and she enjoyed camping and canoe trips with her young family until she discovered the beneficial warmth of winter vacations in Hawaii.  Upon retiring Shirley and Stuart obtained a home in Indio, CA with the goal of keeping Shirley warm in the wintertime.  The final leg of Shirley’s life journey began in 2014 when she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma.  She continued to be active throughout the ups and downs associated with the progression of her disease, enjoying travelling, her family and playing with her grandchildren.  Shirley was an incredibly strong woman with a most wonderful laugh and loving soul. Memorial Service will be held at Knox Metropolitan United Church, 2340 Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK, on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park.
