I am so sad to hear of Rick's passing. We spent a lot of time together growing up playing baseball, football and hockey. Though we had not been in contact for a long time there is something special about childhood friendships which survives over the long years. My condolences and prayers go out to Mrs. Laird, Shelley and Rob. May you find God's comfort in this difficult time. Gerry Tunnicliffe

I first met Rick at the horse track where he later introduced me to my husband, Jeff. Rick’s gentle spirit and passion for sports and music were highlighted through telephone conversations and eventual friend on Facebook - his posts were always entertaining. Hearing Jeff say “I gotta phone Rick” always got my attention hoping to be “invited” to join in during FaceTime sessions. I truly wish we would have had one more dance, Rick. You are deeply missed and will forever be my favourite. Condolences to the family, Donna Schmidt

First met Rick at Shragg Steel and he remained a good friend over these many decades. I made many trips from Saskatoon to Regina to see him during his health trials. He had left a message that to call him but it was not received as we were in the U.S. A friend that will leave a hole in my heart. A real true person. Rest in peace Rick.
