Obituary of James Andrew Duke
It is with great sadness that the family of James Duke announces his passing on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at the age of 84 years.
He was predeceased by his parents John and Elizabeth Duke; and sisters, Jean Wolbaum (Bob) and Marion (Tony) Ortman. Jim is survived by his wife Bernice; his sons, Daryl, Curtis and Tyler; his daughter Debbie McDonald (Dale); granddaughter Taya Duke; Dale’s daughter Ashley and her son Tallon; as well as many nieces and nephews. Jim was also survived by his very special fur baby “Little Buddy” Brewster.
Jim was a loving husband, father and grandfather of his very special granddaughter, Taya. He drove bus and managed Moose Mountain Bus Lines since 1957 and was still consulting until the time of his passing. Jim loved his time in the bus industry where he acquired and cherished many lifelong friendships such as Randy Bell (Marsha), Dewey Bell (Dolores- deceased), Alex Bishop (deceased), Stu Robinson (deceased) (Eileen), and too many to mention. Randy and Dewey worked with dad right from the beginning and were still the best of friends to this day and we appreciate their kindness to our family at this very difficult time.
A special thank you to John Fehr and family who have been so good to our dad and for whom dad held in such high regard. Also, thank you to all the family, friends of family, neighbours and the many acquaintances from the bus industry who have reached out during this time with phone calls, flowers, meals and so many acts of kindness. This has touched our hearts and lifted our spirits.
At Jim’s request there will be no funeral. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the General Hospital and Pasqua Hospital, unit 4A and Palliative Care for their compassionate and loving care. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s memory may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Pasqua Hospital., 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK, S4T 1A5.
