Donna and I graduated from the RGH together. I am one of the five nurses that was working on our 50th Reunion this past year with Donna.
One thing I have always thought every time I saw Donna was how humble she was considering the jobs she had throughout her years as a nurse. Also my family was very privileged to have Donna look after my father-in-law in CCU in 1973. She was very caring and kind to all of us.
My sincere condolences to Dennis, Michelle and Tracy and Family

To Dennis and family,
We were stunned and saddened to learn of Donna's sudden passing. We both had the pleasure of working with Donna for several years during her time with the Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region. She was an extremely trustworthy colleague, and her compassion for patients, staff, colleagues etc. was ever present. She is gone way too soon and she will be dearly missed.

I'm finding it very difficult to say goodbye to someone who should have had many more years to spend with her family and friends. I used to always tell Donna that she was the person I wanted to be when I grew up, even though she was only a year older than me. She had genuine leadership qualities that I could only hope to attain. To say that everyone loved her is not just words. We all loved the way she made each and every one of us feel respected, cared for and appreciated, regardless of our role or position within the Region. I loved her smile, her laughter and her ability to remember absolutely everything!
Thank you Donna for being a part of my life. Thank you for sharing with me what it takes to be a Leader. You will always be loved, and will definitely be missed. Rest in Peace lovely lady!

Our family was saddened to receive word of Donna's sudden death. Although our families were closer in our younger years, it is news such as this that brings us all closer together. We were thankful that Speers Funeral Home offered the virtual celebration of Donna's life, and we so enjoyed learning more about Donna's life through the tributes and music selection during the service. The video tribute of Donna's life and the photo album are treasures. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time.
With sincere sympathy,

Donna has been a part of my life for over 40 years. The best Head Nurse I ever had, a true inspiration for all Nurses! Love, Respect, admiration, calm, decisive ... all the perfect traits of a true Leader. With all of the job titles she has held over the years - R.N. was the one she was most proud of I think and the heart of all she was and did in those jobs. Our Nursing Family will miss her in our midst.

Dennis, Tracy, Michelle and families,
My heart aches for your loss. I supported Donna in her leadership role for a period of time. She was my leader, my mentor and we became friends (she wouldn’t accept me calling her ‘my boss’ - we were colleagues she would say. I cherished her friendship immensely. Donna had a heart of gold for all people and she was a force to be reckoned with. I loved her quiet witty personality and her grit to get’r done attitude. Donna had a way of hearing people both with her ears and her heart and always did what should could to help. I feel like she was extra kind to me and just had that way of making you feel special and valued.
Donna cherished you, her family and may she rest in peace knowing that she gave her all. Paula Koch

Donna was my boss and mentor for 4 years at RQHR. She was incredible, we got the job done, but she didn’t manage, she led. You wanted to follow Donna, she was that inspirational. I will always appreciate her kindness and encouragement, I’d like to think I learned a lot from her leadership style. It was a very sad day when Donna retired. I’ve missed her greatly over the years. She was beautiful inside and out. May she rest in peace.

Donna was one of those people who left an edelible mark on the lives of all those she came in contact with. RUH CCU was my first critical care area I worked in way back in 1978/79 and comining from a small town hospital it was a very big learning curb. Donna was supportive and understanding and now having retired after 40 years in critical care I can say that she was one of the very best head nurses I had over the years. I remember her wonderful laugh and that little twinkle in her eye. She will always hold a special place in the heart.

To Donna's Family & Friends.
I was very saddened to learn of Donna's sudden passing. I met Donna when I started working in the "old" Intensive Care Unit at the RGH in 1980 when she was the Head Nurse of CCU. She exemplified what a nurse and a leader should be. She gave me some career advice a few years later and made a phone call to her colleague at the Plains Health Centre ICU. Moving to the Plains Health Centre ICU with Val Davies as the ADN was an excellent career move for me - I have never forgotten her advice and support.
Please accept my sincere sympathies.

What to say about a one in a million woman. She was an amazing woman, mother, colleague and friend. Love the photo album. Tracy and Michelle, there is no doubt whose daughters you are! You are both as beautiful inside and out as your mom. Its all been said before, but it is so true. She was taken way too soon. Her love of life and the fact she lived life to its fullest will be missed. But she left such an amazing footprint in everything she did, we all will be wise to simply follow in her well worn path. Donna was big-hearted and always ready to help! when she received us in Regina at her home, she made us feel at home, there was so much food for Christmas and a lot of snacks !!!!
We will always remember her ! she left too young and too soon !
