John Turner

Obituary of John Wesley Turner

It is with great sadness that the family of Wes Turner announces his passing on Monday, July 27, 2020. He was born in Regina on October 23, 1937.  Wes dedicated his life to serving his country and community. He loved his family, tinkering with cars old and new and playing the bagpipes. In his retirement one of his favourite pastimes was hanging out at the A&W with his friends and solving the world’s problems. He will be remembered as a hard-working man who would help anyone. Wes served in the Canadian Armed Forces in both regular and reserve forces. While he continued service with the Regina Rifle Regiment he joined the Regina Fire Department in the late 1960’s rising through the ranks until his reluctant retirement at age 65. He was predeceased by his sisters Dorothy Hoemsen and Marlene Gaebel; brothers, Stanley and Calvin; and brothers-in-law Harry Tatlow, Roy Gaebel and Edward Thibault.  Wes leaves behind his wife Denise (nee Thibault); daughters, Joanne Thompson (Mark Harding) and Morgan Turner (Kelly Taylor); sons, Dale (April Kent), Scott (Loretta), and Glen Turner (Terry Ball - deceased); grandchildren, Derek Thompson (Michelle Kuzyk), Siobhann (Kurtis Schroeder) and Peyton Turner; great-grandchildren, Avery, Carson and Niamh; sisters, Elaine Tatlow, Jacqueline Turnier, Sharon Turner, Sandra Turner and Brenda Lavalley; brother Brian;  and brothers and sisters-in-law Hugo Hoemsen, Lucille and Rene Reynaud, Marie Thibault, Eugene Thibault and Roger and Deb Thibault.  The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the medical staff of the Pasqua and General Hospitals.
